FAQs
1. What is a commission?
  • A commission is a request for a bespoke piece of original artwork.

2. Can I get a painting of my pets?
  • Yes! My work focuses on wildlife, but I do take on a limited number of pet commissions are of pets. I am really open to hearing your ideas, however I will decline the opportunity if I do not think I am the right fit for your vision.

3. How much will it cost?
  • Prices vary, depending on style, size, materials, complexity etc. Once I have gathered all of the information from your request I will provide you with a fixed price.

4. How quickly can I get a commission?
  • It will depend entirely on the request and my current workload. I typically don't take on more than 8 commissions a year, to allow me time to get ready for shows and art festivals. Please ensure you inform me of the timescales that I need to work to when we have the initial conversation. I can prioritize my workload to try my best to fulfill your request.

5. How do I pay for my artwork?
  • With any commission there is an initial payment of 25% of the total price, that is non refundable. The balance will payable once the artwork is complete and you are happy with it. I will provide you with an online invoice and you can pay via credit card, or cash if you are picking up from my studio in Denver.

6. Will I see progress updates of my artwork?
  • I do not provide photographic updates throughout the process. I don’t do this because an artwork needs to go through various stages, and therefore it will not be beneficial to share process photos. However, final payment is not due until you are entirely happy with the painting. I am happy to make small adjustments to a painting if required, but I will have collated enough information from our initial conversations that our visions for the painting will be aligned.

7. What do you need to provide me with?
  • I will need a photograph in the desired pose for the painting, which can be sent via email. I can piece together a few reference photos if necessary. If I'm doing a portrait of a pet, several photos are helpful and it's great to know a bit about their personality as this can influence composition and my brushstrokes.

8. Can I get my artwork framed?
  • Yes. I work with an amazing family owned framing business. I will need to know whether you want this at the beginning of the process so that I can quote for this in the total price.

9. Can I order prints of my artwork?
  • Yes. Though you will need to confirm before the artwork is shipped if you would like this option.

10. Will my commission image be used elsewhere?
  • The copyright remains withe me. Prints will not be advertised for sale, you will need to email me directly if you would like to order them. I may use images of the commission on my marketing information (i.e. social media), however I will always gain your consent prior to doing so (especially when the artwork is for a specific events like a birthday or anniversary gift).

Thank you for reading, I look forward to hearing from you to create your own unique piece of artwork.
